چکیده

Considering the increasing number of experimental results in manufacturing process quantum dots (QDs) with different geometries, and fact that most numerical methods can be used to investigate nontrivial geometries require large computational capacities, finite element method (FEM) becomes an incredibly attractive tool for modeling semiconductor QDs. In current article, we FEM obtain first twenty-six probability densities energy values following GaAs structures: rectangular, spherical, cylindrical, ellipsoidal, spheroidal, conical QDs, as well rings, nanotadpoles, nanostars. The calculations were compared exact analytical solutions a good deviation was obtained. ground-state dependence on size obtained find optimal parameter investigated structures. abovementioned calculation valuable insight into effects quantization’s shape Additionally, wavefunctions energies spherical CdSe/CdS while taking account diffusion potential depth use piecewise Woods–Saxon potential. effective mass dielectric permittivity normal A structure quasi-type-II band alignment at core ?2.2 nm This result is consistent data.

buckling of viscoelastic composite plates using the finite strip method

Optimization of Thermalisation Loss in the Quantum Dot Solar Cells using a Finite Element Method

As thermalisation loss is the dominant loss process in the quantum dot intermediate band solar cells (QD-IBSCs), it has been investigated and calculated for a QD-IBSC, where IB is created by embedding a stack of InAs(1-x) Nx QDs with a square pyramid shape in the intrinsic layer of the AlPySb(1-y) p-i-n structure. IB, which is an optically coupled but electrically isolated mini-band, divides th...

Quantum Mechanics and the Finite Element Method

dx = 0 (1) Here ψ(x) is some sort of wavefunction that somehow describes the properties of the particle, V (x) is the potential the particle moves in, and E is the particle energy. The term ∇ψ(x) ·∇ψ(x) measures the curvature of the wavefunction. In some way it is a surrogate for the (kinetic) energy of the particle. Schrödinger never came to terms with the physical meaning of ψ(x). From this e...

A Proposed Modeling Method in Finite Element Slope Stability Analysis

Limit-equilibrium method (LEM) and finite element method (FEM) with strength reduction method (SRM) techniques are the most widely used analysis tools in slope stability assessment. Recently, researchers have reported that both factor of safety (FOS) values and failure surfaces obtained from LEM and FEM are generally in good agreement, except in some particular cases. In this paper, the FOS and...
